HATI

HATI is a musical group based on the sound of acoustic instruments – ethnic and recycled objects, combining explorations in the field of ritual-meditative and improvised music. The band was founded in Toruń in 2001 by Rafał Iwański and Dariusz Wojtas, from 2006 they performed as a trio with Rafał Kołacki, from 2007 as the Iwański / Kołacki duo, with guest appearances by Dariusz Brzostek and other musicians. The group has played several hundred concerts in Poland, the USA, Germany, Spain, Belgium, the Netherlands, Ireland, Great Britain, France and Denmark. The musicians have appeared at many festivals, including: Unsound Festival New York, Equinox Festival in London, Fanø Free Folk Festival in Denmark, Linien Festival in Göttingen, Bleisound Festival in Munich, Audio Art Festival in Krakow, Wrocław Industrial Festival, Festiwal in Landscape in Inowłodz, International Music Presentations Ambient in Gorlice, Open’er Festival in Gdynia. The HATI group has recorded a number of albums, also in cooperation with other Polish and foreign musicians, released on such labels as Eter, Nefryt / Malachit, Beast Of Prey, Drone Records, Ars Benevola Mater, Requiem.

They collaborated on a concert and studio basis with many sound artists, incl. such as Z’EV, PAS, John Zorn, Peter Votava / PURE, Sławomir Ciesielski / ex REPUBLIKA, Robert Curgenven, Steve Buchanan & Heike Fiedler, Raymond Salvatore Harmon (video). R. Iwański and R. Kołacki are also the originators and co-organizers of the international multimedia CoCArt Music Festival at the Center for Contemporary Art Znaki Czasu in Toruń.
