HYBRYDS
The Belgian Hybryds project – founded by Sandy Nys (Magthe) – is already an institution on the independent scene. Hybryds started as part of the cassette mail-art scene in 1986 after the break-up of Absolute Controlled Clinical Maniacs (from which The Klinik and Hybryds emerged), while in the 1990s they recorded a whole series of excellent albums. Their music was intertwined with elements of ambient, field recordings, noise, trance, and even techno, all in a sauce of post-industrial electronics with strong accents of ritual rhythms. They have collaborated with artists such as Dirk Serries (aka Vidna Obmana / Fear Falls Burning), Herman Klapholz (Ah Cama-Sotz), Dirk Ivens (Dive, ex-The Klinik) and Djen Ajakan Shean. From the beginning of its activity, Hybryds tried to study the influence of music on the (sub) consciousness of the listener by introducing him to a sound trance.
