This is the second collaborative album by the industrial legend the Polish duo from Torun, and is a sonic postcard from their 2011 tour in May 2011 and is composed of two, supposedly without overdub, livesets: „Live in Turin” is the first set, a long track, and is focused on the resonance of the cymabals and gong notoriously used by the players in the first part of the gig while the development is focused, in the second part, in african percussion that introduce in a meditative and silent third part that end in an oriental like percussion development. The final part of this gig is divided in two section: the first part use some strange flute sounds above the subtle Z’ev percussion and the second end this gig with the same evocative mood of the introduction. „Live in Gdansk” is a smaller, and more predictable, set based almost exclusively in ritual and meditative gong resonance periodically interrupted by atmospherical silence above subtle metallic percussion. The result has a good impact due of the undoubtable craft of the musician involved.
A fine release but only for fans of ritual ambient music.

Każda płyta toruńskiej grupy Hati to zawsze ważne wydarzenie w naszym kraju. Zapowiedź 'Heart of a Wolf’ dumnie głosiła iż jest to jeden z najciekawszych i najlepszych albumów ubiegłego roku i właściwe to powinien na tym zakończyć tą recenzję. Zgadzam się w 100 %!
Duże zaskoczenie iż chłopakom z Zoharum udało się namówić na wydaniem płyty tak legendarną postać jakim jest Z’EV. ”Heart of a Wolf’ zawiera materiał dźwiękowy zarejestrowany podczas wspólnej trasy HATI i Z’EVa, która odbyła się w naszym kraju w maju 2011 roku.
Mamy tutaj aż trzy digipackowe wydania: 1 CD (z zapisem koncertu z Torunia). Podwójny CD (limit do 423 sztuk, z koncertem z Gdańska) oraz tylko 23 sztuki – 2 CD plus koszulka.
”Heart of a Wolf” zabija muzyczną zawartością ale także świetnym brzmieniem. Koncerty zostały bardzo dobrze zarejestrowane, wszystko brzmi niezwykle selektywnie i tak „na żywo” że ma się wrażenie uczestnictwa w koncercie. Każdy bębenek, uderzenie w gong, dźwięk rogu i każdy szmer brzmią bardzo czysto i realistycznie. Dźwięk jest ważny, ale najważniejsza jest specyficzna rytualna i transowa atmosfera, świetnie tutaj uchwycona. Niedowiarkom wyjaśniam iż “Heart of a Wolf” to dwa różniące się od siebie koncerty, doskonale się uzupełniające. Słuchałem tej płyty już wiele razy i cały czas jestem nią oczarowany. Rekomendacja!

Wieder einmal ein Werk, welches es einem nicht unbedingt leicht macht. Die Rede ist von “Heart Of A Wolf”, wo das Projekt Z’EV mit dem Duo Hati zusammenarbeitet, was in zwei Livemitschnitten resultiert.
Schnell stellt sich mir dabei die Frage, wer solch eine Veröffentlichung wirklich braucht.
Für rituelle Messen mag das Gebotene fraglos passend erscheinen, von einem musikalischen Hörgenuss kann jedoch nicht die Rede sein. Von daher empfehle ich vor dem Kauf unbedingtes Probehören, aber zerlegen wir erst einmal den Inhalt …
Es soll ja tatsächlich Leute geben, die so ihre Probleme damit haben, was enorm langspielige Darbietungen betrifft. Der Grund dafür dürfte letztendlich darin liegen, dass man ein solches Werk kaum auf die Schnelle aufsaugt, sondern dem Ganzen vielmehr mit entsprechender Zeit begegnen muss.
Auf diesem doppelten Silberling gibt es also nun die Liveperformances von Toruń und Gdańsk zu hören, die schnell einen rituellen Aspekt aufzeigen. Gerade durch die Vielzahl einsetzender Gongs und anderer, ähnlicher Percussions macht sich das bemerkbar.
Dies ändert sich auch im weiteren Verlauf nicht großartig, wenngleich der Trip mal verstärkt meditativ, mal orientalisch anmutet.
Durchaus empfehlenswert wäre dabei eine separate Anspielung gewesen, denn wer hat schon ehrlich gesagt Lust, jedes Mal eine halbe Stunde durchzustehen, bis man an einer gefälligen Stelle angelangt.
Für überzeugte Verehrer der rituellen Klänge mag das Teil vielleicht sogar interessant scheinen, für den Normalverbraucher wohl weniger.
So wird es diejenige Fraktion geben, die sich bereits nach wenigen Minuten etwas ratlos abwendet, andere werden sich hingegen die Finger lecken. Geschmackssache ist dabei wohl auch die passende Umschreibung für “Heart Of A Wolf”, bei dem mir persönlich eindeutig die Emotionalität fehlt, weshalb zudem der Wiedererkennungswert etwas von dannen geht.
Sicherlich ist die Handschrift gerade bei Z’EV eine recht eigene, aber variables Klanggut klingt bei mir einfach anders.
Hier gilt eindeutig: Ritual Begeisterte dürfen gerne innehalten, der Rest lässt besser die Finger davon!

Esta no es la primera ocasión en la que el dúo polaco Hati y el maestro de la percusión experimental Stefan Joel Weisser, más conocido por su nombre artísticoZ’ev, unen sus fuerzas para dar un concierto.
Hati son famosos por su buen hacer con los platos, timbales y gongs, así como Z’ev será eternamente recordado por montarse un evento de una hora con tan sólo tres objetos cualesquiera, con la única condición de que todos ellos sean de metal.Z´Ev & Hati – „Heart of A Wolf”La primera ocasión que tuvimos de escucharlos en acción conjunta y diferida fue gracias a la publicación en 2003 del álbum “#1”. En él los ritmos étnicos y la experimentación ritual se fusionaban, dando lugar a un trabajo que invitaba a la meditación y al trance.
Ocho años más tarde esta acertada colaboración entre proyectos de estilos emparejados vuelve a repetirse, ofreciéndonos el registro de un par de conciertos celebrados en las preciosas ciudades polacas de Torún y Gdansk.
Si por algo se caracterizan estos tres maestros de los golpes y las sacudidas de baquetas es por la creación de atmósferas densas y caliginosas. Saben urdir miles de notas metálicas para conformar con excelente resultado texturas lineales que van creciendo y decreciendo en intensidad debido a la adhesión de nuevos instrumentos a ella, consiguiendo generar paisajes acústicos de inquietante naturaleza. Cierto es que un buen conocedor de la discografía del neoyorquino Z’ev sabrá que este buen señor ha realizado toda clase de discos a base de planchas de hierro oxidadas y muelles del tamaño de un okapi. Desde verdaderas apoplejías sonoras hasta discos de lo más relajados. También destaca por sus innumerables colaboraciones, participando con figuras como Genesis P. Orridge, Organum o David Linton. Lo mejor de Z‘Ev quizá sea su prodigiosa capacidad de adaptación, sabe amoldarse magníficamente al estilo personal de cada uno respetando a la vez siempre el propio.Z´Ev & Hati – „Heart of A Wolf”
Por su parte, Heti siempre han sido unos declarados fans del maestro neoyorquino Z’Ev, y para ellos es tan placentero como honorífico el hecho de poder compartir cortes y escenario con semejante personalidad del mundo de la percusión experimental.
El trabajo se presenta en un lujoso digipack desplegable que puede ser adquirido a buen precio. Hablamos de un trabajo doble muy recomendable tanto para neófitos de este estilo como para los amantes del género, ya que el álbum no se descubre como pesado ni saturante, es más, todo lo contrario, resulta un perfecto acompañamiento para las tardes de lectura y las veladas ritualísticas.
“Heart Of a Wolf” se alza como una perfecta oportunidad para disfrutar conjuntamente de dos grandes exponentes de la experimentación percutida.

without a doubt one of the most amazing albums coming last year,due the trajectory and explorative filds walked for both project for years. Z´EV one of the pioners of percussive transformations,developing its creativity along the whole tracks developed here. This time with HATI,a Polish duo converging in its suggestive ethnic instruments and magickal atmospheres surrounded by inducing trance passages,creating a manifestation of magickal current which must be explored carefully by each one of you. The album comes in double cd,one with the Gdansk gig and the other one with the Torun one!The enigmatic voyage into this lycanthropic search is based in explorative percussive sounds crawling and mutating all the time into diverse forms,perceptions and giving you different thoughts of which both artists could experience playing live! So I imagine how amazing the shows will be ,due the mutative transformation and nature of both artists.At moments the sounds trasnformas itself in a vast organic vortex mutating all the time. without a doubt this kind of releases is one of these which you will never forget due the highest trascendence in each one of the explorative sounds emerging here. No need more words just feel and enter the pulsations of lycanthropic transformastios with this amazing album.

Nie znam się, nie umiem, jestem nietutejszy…. ale chyba do czasu. Nigdy nie trawiłem muzyki spod szyldu Ambiet, Psychodelic, czy też muzyki etnicznej. Nie trawiłem, ale zrobię wyjątek dla naprawdę dobrego „duchowego” grania duetu HATI i ZEVA…. Wkomponować wszelakiego rodzaju instrumenty, takie jak gong, bębenki, rogi, archaiczne aerofony w jedną całość, z multi-instrumentalnymi bębnami to naprawdę pokłon do samej ziemi. Muzyka, którą słucha się najlepiej samemu, w ciszy (nie zaszkodzi dobre piwko), przemawia do umysłu, jak i ducha…
Dwa koncerty, na dwóch CD zarejestrowane w Toruniu i w Gdańsku, w limitowanej edycji 432 sztuk powalą na kolana ludzi, lubiących muzykę „ducha”. Co ciekawe legenda amerykańskiego industrialu ZEV, zaczął grać na instrumentach perkusyjnych już w wieku 3 lat! A pierwszy zestaw perkusyjny zbudował gdy miał 6 lat! Zresztą tak jak i ZEV, tak i grupa HATI (także legenda polskiego i europejskiego industrialu) narzędzia swojej pracy starają się robić z recyklingu.
Koncerty zostały bardzo dobrze zarejestrowane, wszystko brzmi niezwykle „na żywo”, gdzie czuć zapach sceny i w wyobraźni widać cały koncert… Kto lubi melancholię, dziwne dźwięki, polecam, kto tego nie znosi…też polecam, od czasu do czasu, nie tylko młócka i brutalne riffy, a trochę spokoju nie zaszkodzi nikomu.
