Po udanej reedycji zapomnianego klasyka „Emotional Engramm”, MAEROR TRI powraca do katalogu Zoharum i New Nihilism z kolejnym krążkiem.

Od surowego „Peak Experience” do sennych klimatów „The Beauty of Sadness”.

Żeby otrzymać krążek najlepszej jakości, „Meditamentum” zostało wydane wspólnie przez Zoharum i New Nihilism.

To podwójne wydawnictwo jest ściśle limitowane do 500 sztuk.

Recenzje

Vital Weekly:
I tend to play music label or group-wise, so a while ago I pulled out all the Maeror Tri CDs I have – which I guess is pretty much all of them in their original released form – and had that on play for a couple of days. Not much later it was the turn for Troum, Maeror Tri successor – and I decided that I liked Maeror Tri better, even when the differences are pretty small. Just a matter of highly private opinion, but I am bringing this up, since today I got this double pack of the two 'Meditamentum’ releases. The first volume was released by Holonom and then re-issued by Manifold, who also released a second volume of it. Both of these releases compile tracks that were scattered on compilation cassettes in the very early Maeror Tri, the years of inexpexerience and lots of experiment. It’s years that I have close to my heart and very early on I was in contact with the band and liked their music straight away. I reminded me of Zoviet*France and was regarded back then as ambient industrial. Through all these twenty-three tracks (two are new bonus pieces, also from compilations, but on the previous volumes) you can follow their early steps from Maeror Tri on CD one which spans 1989-1992 and their more refined sound on CD two, 1992-1996, when their music gained more and more depth. Still all highly ambient, right from 'The Threat’ (1989) to 'Res Magnifica’ (1996) with endless sustaining sounds, drones, processed field recordings and harmonium/guitar/percussion sounds and sometimes bringing the sound back, deep into the earth. Tons of effects have been used, but all with the right amount. If you are a Maeror Tri fan you may have the original releases, but worth here for the bonus tracks and the excellent remaster. Or if you are curious what the hell all the fuzz is about this obscure band in it’s day worth all these re-issues, then this is also your place to start. (FdW)

Freq:
while Maeror Tri (Zoharum) slip into warm baths created by a kind of total processing of real sounds.
both these releases feel like they ought to be compared to film
At least, I think that’s what’s happening; in truth, where the sounds come from doesn’t matter because they slip and slide over one another so perfectly they feel like they might almost work better as a montage. You could imagine these two albums played on either side of a large room – a cavern – and you could wander aimlessly around the room, letting the sounds ebb and flow and rise and fall. These albums could dance together and it’d look like the alien dance-fight-lovemaking in Holy Motors (for some reason, both these releases feel like they ought to be compared to film). Watch Upstream Color, feel the gauze, listen to The Sampler’s odd music and imagine him playing along with either of these bands and then let the film’s montages drift over you and imagine playing these albums alongside. Both of these don’t need images to work (they make images work) but they wouldn’t easily be contaminated by them either.
If you’re desperate, I could mention Zoviet France et al – Maeror Tri in particular do sort of sound like Zoviet France – but that would feel a little like missing the point. The soundworlds here feel very genuine. They may, in part, be related to memories of other musics (there’s a nod in the sleeve notes of Meditamentum to Throbbing Gristle, for instance) or attempts to recreate specific places and moments in time but nothing here feels remotely forced. They are not trying to be dark; they just happen upon darkness.

Kulturterrorismus:

Pflichtkauf!

Only Good Music:

Dwie płyty, w sumie 23 nagrania (dwa dodatkowe bonusy) i 155 minut muzyki ułożone w formie kroniki fajnie pokazują muzyczną drogę Niemców począwszy od 1989 roku do trzech utworów pochodzących z 1996 roku.
