It Doesn’t Belong Here” wydany nakładem  Zoharum?).

Recenzje

The Sound Projector:
Nice hour-long dark ambient drone CD called Najas Flexilis Exequiae (ZOHARUM ZOHAR 082-2) from ForrestDrones, who is Robert Skrzynski, who also records as Micromelancolie, no_signal and Yellow Belly, and may sign himself “Cough Serenade” in correspondence, said correspondence taking place by candlelight and through hand-written letters using a quill pen. Actually that last part is wishful thinking on my part as Robert probably has email like everyone else. But I bet he has a supernatural leaning too. The forest has, after all, been a powerful and deep archetype in world-wide culture for about as long as anyone can remember, particularly in Germany, infamous as a location for unknown terrors and inexplicable events…off the top of my head I would cite Grimm’s Fairy Tales and German Romantic painters, and the archetype was even misappropriated by the National Socialists, in “Volk” propaganda films such as 1936’s Ewiger Wald. We could probably trace a line from this that leads directly to the enormous number of Black Metal albums that feature forests, now so significant that I gather there’s even a sub-genre explicitly called “Forest Metal”.
This may all be a red herring when dealing with the work of Robert Skrzynski however, as he’s Polish and an experimental film-maker. His interest in forest lore takes the form of using botanical etchings taken from old books as visual decoration for his music, especially when publishing his tracks on the internet. And of course in creating this eerie CD, itself a very elusive and fleeting aural experience…without doubt a “nocturne”, the whole suite seems to be taking place on a dark moonlit night, unless that’s simply the pre-emptive influence of the dark moonlit cover art taking over my keyboard as I write. Some over-familiar ambient tones at the start soon give way to the body of the work, which is extremely understated with its light crackling sounds and barely-perceptible half-musical episodes, which feel more like light organic stains on a canvas rather than brushstrokes applied by an artist’s hand. Indeed if he was a painter I suppose Skrzynski would feel more at home burying his canvasses in a dank secret place underground and letting nature (mould, decay, algae, insects) do most of the work. A strangely compelling listen. The lovely cover art by Mateusz Wysocki features phases of the moon, a blurred out-of-focus owl peering at you with empty black eyes, and simple brushstrokes suggesting trunks of trees…an affair in black, white and grey…arrived 24 November 2014, November being an ideal month for listening to such a dark droner…

Quartier23:

Felthat:
Robert Skrzyński is a rising and ever productive musician working under moniker Micromelancolie which he uses as an outlet of hauntologic voyages into sparky drone ambient glitchy world of sounds derived from experimental music but having great illustrative and soundtracky feel to it. He released a lot of cassettes and already ahs a release with Zoharum records which produced and published this title as well.
Forrrest Drones is a side project of Robert where to my taste he embellishes and explores more of a ambiency derivative as well as works with voices and glitch.
It is one long track which to som extent may seem rather dicouraging as the audacity of the experimental music sometimes can be breached by amass of the material put into one row or one wave length not really caring about the fact that the listener can get simply bored with it. But fortunately the material on this nicely produced eco-packed cd limited to 300 copies does all the goodness it can as it sounds fresh and unassumingly pretty.
Droney glitch which characterises Robert’s music is a derivative of the late 1990’s laptop music but after over a decade of the re-inventions he embellished it beautifully putting into very individualistic anthem of intimacy and wonder. He will definitely will give more and more to what he actually can do. A real audible pleasure here has some additional value to it as it reaches a certain climax which I can only refer to as a poetry.Worthwhile!

ChainDLK:
This could sounds as the first cd published by this composer but is presented as Robert SkrzyÅski, otherwise known as Micromelancolié, whose last album was praised by me as it 'tries to search new grounds reasoning on structures’. This statement is confirmed by this new release, a single long track represented, in his beautiful sleeve, as an owl seeing the moon phases, in a meditative, but happy, mood.
The crackles of an old record introduce the listener into a soundscape made out of drones and small noises that has the quality to escape the obvious suspension of time searching the hypnotizing effect. The drones and loops enters and exits through the track and are unheard until it’s realized the change of the loop. So, at first listen the overall effect could sound static but closer analysis reveals the clear music path followed by the composer.
This release is another one that could not be recommended to anyone as it’s perhaps too focused on a particular structure to be enjoyed by everyone. However all fans of drone and ambient will enjoy this album and wait for the next release from this composer. Really nice.

NonPop:

Vital Weekly:
…Behind ForrestDrones we find Robert Skrzynski, otherwise known as Micromelancolie, whose 'It Doesn’t Belong Here’ was reviewed in Vital Weekly 925, which was alright. I am not sure why he chooses for a new pseudonym as ForrestDrones seem to me another extension of the world of drone music. It starts out with the sound of a stylus on vinyl, like the music has been recorded from an old piece of vinyl, but ForrestDrones use it as an instrument here. Following a cassette release and some pieces on the Internet, this is his first release and it goes all the way: the piece lasts exactly one hour and takes the listener on dark trip. A bit like the Jarl/Envenomist release but here it’s more 'earth’ like as opposed to the more 'water’ like connections I had with the other release. It’s a trip into the woods, moist grounds, which you can smell at night. Pines from Christmas trees. Obviously the name of the project is a distraction here, or the guide in these woods. The crackles of vinyl continue for the entire hour; at one point I had enough but then, after some more time, I thought it made fine sense to do it like this, and it was a more or less conceptual notion. Less filmic, less a soundtrack, but more just a piece of music to sit by and enjoy without any other distraction (unless of course when played at night, walking in a forest). It’s not really something new, but it’s throughout a very consistent piece of music.

Mentenebre:

Igloo Magazine:
Robert Skrzyński, previously enjoyed enormously as Micromelancolié. The exploration of much ado in one, deceptively peaceful glade. Skrzyński establishes the scene, a cold, clear, arching firmament cradling the full moon. Beneath its canopy, the air crackles with static. Below it, a beleafed, autumnal forest bed. And this is what the keen hearing of the owl picks up going on underground as he holds his midnight watch—burrowings and mushrooms pushing through the surface. A single, hour-long piece, with an eeriness that makes not only the small fauna wary. Haunting synthesizer superstructure, vinyl run-on close to the ear, tactile as a hand running over the bark of an old oak tree. Moonbeams filter down between denuded branches. It is a beautiful if harrowing night. You will shiver, smell woodsmoke and turf, clutch at your thick sweater, dig after your pocket flask.

Lux Atenea:

Musique Machine:
Polish experimental musician, and man of a thousand band names, Robert Skrzyñski is back with his second release as ForrrestDrones. This CD comes to us from Zoharum in a limited release of 300. Najas Flexilis Exequiae consists of one album long track (~ 1 hr) that takes the listener on a quiet, somewhat eerie trek through the nighttime wilderness
Long, slowly moving drones textured with subtle album crackle are the name of the game here. Maybe it’s the feet of snow I’m currently surrounded by, but Najas Flexilis Exequiae makes me think of a walk through a snowy, sparse forest on a cold, windy evening. The long, layered drones sweep by like the cold winter wind. Snow kicked up drifts catching the moonlight, adding a soft high to the mix. The added album crackle adds a found album element. Like discovering a lost soundtrack to a creepy, winter time ritual mystery, the enigma grows. Where are we headed? Will we ever get there? What awaits us when we do? The more we listen, the more the film grain starts to show, and the feeling that we will remain in this snowy loop forever takes hold.
Growing, shrinking, rising, falling, but managing to stay consistent, Najas Flexilis Exequiae remains engaging throughout its run time. It’s hypnotic and evocative, and it does so very subtly. While each layer on their own is pretty simple, the combination of the layers anything but. Winter and snow definitely suck, but ForrrestDrones’ latest definitely doesn’t.

1uchem1okiem:
A jednak, tych 60 statycznych minut kryje w sobie zaskakującą tajemnice kreacji, obciążonej szeregiem drobiazgowych ingerencji w materię utworu. Każdy z nich rozciągałem, nakładałem efekt i nagrywałem. Rozciągałem, nakładałem i nagrywałem.
Oszczędna i zdystansowana, więcej ukrywająca, niż odsłaniająca. Pozwala słuchaczowi zanurzyć się w kontemplacji nad płynącymi falami dronów pokrytych patyną analogowych szumów. Skrzyński stworzył muzyczną substancję, która uwodzi swą amorficzna formą, pozbawioną kulminacji, zwrotów akcji, czy jakiejkolwiek fabularyzacji. „Najas Flexilis Exequiae” może przywodzić skojarzenia z „The Disintegration Loops” Williama Basinski’ego, choć zawiera zdecydowanie mniej akcentów lirycznych i melancholijnych.

Only Good Music:
To dźwięki o charakterze niemal modlitewnym.
